She goes for the book instead of Barbie doll. Ever since she
was in kinder garden, up to now that she is about to graduate from
elementary school. Amatullah Nuha Salsabila’s number one choice of
birthday present has always been the same, book.
The place resembles a library more than a living room. It has hundreds of children’s reading stuffs, neatly arranged on a bright wooden book rag in the favourite corner of Nuha. Her dad Joko Susanto and mom Jamilatun Heni Marfu'ah has deliberately turned the front room into the family’s treasure keep: books, books, books.
“Abi is always difficult if i asked for new dresses, but not book,” said Nuha, addressing to her dad with unclear intention, whether as a praise or protest.
Her book was Kecil Kecil Punya Karya: The Rainbow School has been in the second edition, since the first publish in 2011. It took her one year to write the 118 pages book. Nuha is now ready to launch her second book entitled Sepeda untuk Sahabat.
“I don’t do diary, so none of my stories is based on my personal experience,” said Nuha, who in November 2011 was invited by Minister of Education, Muh Nuh to attend The National Young Writer Conference in Jakarta.
Nuha is inspired from anything around her. She wraps those things up with her own imagination, and turns them into writing. Nuha’s talent at writing got influenced in large proportion by her dad. Joko regularly takes the family into a book shopping program every month.
Along with her brother and sister, Nuha never misses a day without reading books. No need for anyone to tell them to. “By reading a lot, writing becomes easier. Reading increases my vocabulary. I just need to type in what I have in mind, and they make book,” said Nuha.
